Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?
Look in the mirror, what do you see? Are we so blind that we simply fool ourselves time and again? I am good, I am strong, I know what to do, I …! If Jesus were to give you just one moment to see clearly, what do you think you’d see?
Jesus saw things as they were, remember “And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it. ”Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.” Lk 19:41-42
Tell me, how is it that we are so blind so as to not see the truth around us???
In blindness; we fail to see our wretched nakedness, we miss God’s loving intimate gaze, and our failures are hidden in our pride.
In blindness; dictators raves, militants kill, thieves steal, nations plunder, cities die, evil abounds, churches struggle while infected by heresy, leaders are led astray, the lost are not found, people suffer.
Imagine … if the tyrant really could SEE the reality of his nations suffering, As Jesus sees. Imagine if the world’s leaders saw the consequence of their aggression and apathy. Imagine if the people of our Cape Town saw their own true role. Imagine if we all went to help those flooded in the rains. Imagine if church leaders around the world saw the tears in Jesus’ eyes. Imagine if we all saw Jesus by our side saying, “Come”. Imagine if we all saw the path He was calling us along. Imagine if we went! Imagine if we gave truth to Rom 8:14
The tarnished dreams of yesterday
have taken me along the path of gloom
never closer to You.
And in those dreams of yesterday
I realized the emptiness come true
in the dark away from You.
So come, illuminate me
Show me your bright colours of freedom
A light beyond comprehension
Oh come, illuminate me.
Morning light in my window
radiates a hope that’s shining through
as I reach for you.
And now in this morning light
I realized another dream come true
In the light of you.
Oh, I don’t know why it took me so long.
I guess I was just trying too hard.
And I don’t know where it’s all going to take me.
But I’m waiting in the morning light.
There is a light that shines
Shines for all to see
And it’s shining for the blind
Oh light, shine down on me.
And in the light I know that I am free
And in the light, there is peace
Open your eyes, and you will see
The light that shines, on you and me.
